Ten Thousand Miles

Fare thee well
My own true love
Farewell for a while
I've gone away
But I'll be back
Though I go ten thousand miles

Ten thousand miles
My own true love
Ten thousand miles or more
Rocks may melt
And the seas may burn
If I should not return

Oh don't you see
That lonesome dove
Sitting on an ivy tree
She's weeping for
Her own true love
As I shall weep for mine

Come ye back
My own true love
And stay a while with me
If I had a friend
On this earth
You've been a friend to me

The folk song you quoted is an old one - I think origonating in the Appalachin Mts before the 1900's. Mary Chapin Carpenter has been recording for several years now - what did you want to point out to me? I love her voice. Love Mom. PS - write about what's happening in Japan. How was the banquet? Do you have IM yet? (I am such a Mom!)

Got it. She has a haunting voice. I sang one of her songs for Alice's wedding #3. I enjoyed this piece too. Thanks. Miss you! Love Mom

... but how does it sound? Is there a midi-file around?

MIDI file? Yech. I mean, I'm not opposed to MIDIs in general, but I think a MIDI version would ruin this song for me.
If you want to go out in search of a MIDI, good luck to you. Keep in mind that there are a few versions of this song; MCC's is slow and bittersweet.
